Aloft Ocean City Announces Offseason Programs To Benefit Local Animals and Artisans

December 1, 2019 by Lexi Ray Leave a Comment

OCEAN CITY, Md. (December 1, 2019) – Aloft Ocean City is pleased to announce a pair of new programs that seek to benefit animals and artisans in the surrounding community: “Deck the Walls… and the Paws,” a wreath-selling fundraiser benefiting the Worcester County Humane Society, and “Sip & Shop,” a weekly pop-up shopping event featuring local artisans.

“We’re extremely excited to host two programs that allow guests and non-guests alike to not only have a unique shopping experience, but also give back to the local community,” said Michael Hayes, Aloft Ocean City General Manager. “As added bonuses, they take place in the comfort of our lobby and help show that here at Aloft Ocean City, there’s no such thing as an offseason.”

Running through December 31st, Deck the Walls offers the opportunity to purchase decorative wreaths made by local artists. Fifty percent of proceeds are donated to the Worcester County Humane Society, a no kill animal shelter, and 50% go to their creators, many of whom have chosen to donate these funds to their charity or organization of choice. As diverse as the individuals who made them – including many highly-talented students from Stephen Decatur High School and North Dorchester Middle School – the 40+ handcrafted wreaths span from holiday traditional to perennial fun.

Unique products are likewise the theme of Sip & Shop, a pop-up shop program that brings an Eastern Shore boutique to the Aloft lobby from 5:00-9:00pm each Friday. Adding to its laid back atmosphere, the hotel will be featuring live music and happy hour pricing at its W XYZ bar during each open-to-all event. The inaugural event, held on Friday, December 13th, proved to be far from unlucky, with “beach to chic” boutique ish BOUTIQUE drawing droves of holiday shoppers to peruse and purchase its wide array of jewelry, apparel, and home, beauty, and baby products. Berlin-based Patty Jean’s Boutique will be featured on December 20th and peach on December 27th, and Aloft is actively seeking additional businesses to partner with in 2020.
